Green Bay Packers Rookie Malik Heath Redeems Himself with Late Touchdown
Green Bay, WI – Green Bay Packers rookie wide receiver Malik Heath overcame a missed opportunity to score his first NFL touchdown to come back and catch the go-ahead score in the fourth quarter of Monday night’s game against the New York Giants.
Missed Opportunity, Redeemed on Next Play
Heath initially dropped a pass in the end zone on second-and-goal from the 6-yard line. However, the Packers showed confidence in the rookie, calling his number again on the next play. This time, Heath made no mistake, hauling in a pass and extending the ball over the pylon for the go-ahead touchdown.
Heath Contributes Despite Loss
While the Giants ultimately won the game 24-22, Heath’s touchdown was a bright spot in a tough loss. He finished the game with 7 receptions for 79 yards, showcasing his potential as a valuable contributor to the Packers offense.
Strong Rookie Performance
Heath’s performance was part of a strong showing by the Packers’ rookie class. Collectively, the rookies caught 15 of Jordan Love’s 25 passes for 117 yards. Tight end Tucker Kraft had a particularly impressive game, catching 4 passes for 64 yards, including a 43-yard reception that set up a field goal.
Next Up: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Packers look to bounce back from their loss next week when they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Lambeau Field. The Buccaneers are currently leading the NFC South, and the game promises to be a tough test for the Packers.
Despite the loss, the Packers still hold the seventh and final playoff spot in the NFC. With several key players nearing their return from injury, the Packers remain optimistic about their playoff chances.
